Synopsis
In this film adaptation of the Broadway play, Twilight: Los Angeles, Anna Deavere Smith performs her one woman show portraying various real life people involved in the aftermath of the 1992 Rodney King trial verdict riots in Los Angeles. Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 is a one woman play written and originally performed by Anna Deavere Smith. Smith transforms herself into a mosaic of different individuals talking about their thoughts and experiences during the violent aftermath of the Rodney King trial and verdict. The original Broadway production opened at the Cort Theater in New York City on April 17, 1994, ran for 72 performances, and was nominated for Best Play in the 1994 Tony Awards. Anna Deavere Smith later recreated her role during the filmed production in 2000 directed by Marc Levin.
