Dan Levesque is an up and coming documentary cinematographer, editor, and producer whose career has excelled at Blowback Productions.
Dan received a double major in Film and Political Science in Middlebury, Vermont where he made a number of hard-hitting documentaries covering local issues such as Vermont’s cost of living, COVID-19, and homelessness. For his senior thesis, Anarchy in Vermont, Dan embedded himself with anarchist protestors who were attempting to thwart the city of Burlington’s efforts to close Vermont’s largest homeless encampment at the onset of winter. His work won him recognition from New Haven Documentary Film Festival, Student World Impact Film Festival, Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, and Vermont Public Radio, where it is now streaming.
While working on his own filmography, Dan was employed as a videographer for the Middlebury New Filmmakers. Between shooting online advertisements and test screening films for the festival, he was fortunate enough to meet numerous filmmakers, including Marc Levin. It was through their meeting that Dan was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of moving to New York
Dan hit the ground running and eagerly honed his skills as an editor, producer, and shooter under the tutelage of the Blowback team. During his time at the company, he helped shepherd It’s Basic (2023) to a Tribeca premiere as an associate producer and An American Bombing (2024) onto HBO Max as an associate producer and associate editor. His brief career at Blowback includes such highlights as editing the opening title sequence for An American Bombing, creating a Sundance 25th anniversary short for SLAM (1998), and crewing an interview with Bill Clinton.
When not at Blowback, Dan can be found shooting various pieces for his friends in the comedy and music scenes in Brooklyn. He also continues to create his own independent documentaries.
